Subscription
You can subscribe by filling in the
entry-form and return it to the address of the contact person. The form can also be filled in at our internet site. Please do so as soon as possible! Think about visas if necessary.
Participating teams
Teams are invited of several countries. The maximum tournament capacity is 20 boys' and 16 girls' teams, U18 - U20 (born after 01-01-1992). We have invited both Dutch and foreign teams.

Every team will play at least 5 games
Thursday evening, April 5
Teams for staying the night report this to the organization
Friday, April 6
At Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., all teams are expected to anounce themselves to the tournament organization. Games will start at 11:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. This day, each team will play at least 2 games. The tournament will be officially opened at Friday evening, with a grand show. Two team-mates are expected to wear the team uniform because of the presentation of all participating teams. Afterwards, it will be great fun in Early Bird own cozy canteen.
Saturday, April 7
From 10:00 a.m. on, the first tournament rounds will be continued. Again, each team will play at least 2 games. Cross-finals will be played in the afternoon and in the evening.
Sunday, April 8
Games will be played from 09:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Most teams, except the finalists, will play their final games. From 7:00 p.m. on, All Star Games and 'DuckContest' will be played for boys and girls. The day will end with a party, including a drive-in show.
Monday, April 9
The final day of the tournament will start at 11:00 a.m. The final rounds will be played then. Yet, the Bartels Datastore Early Bird Hall will witness much more spectacular basketball play, like a 'ThreePointGame' and performances. At about 6:00 p.m., the prizes will be distributioned.
Referees
The games will be led by official referees. Referees willing to lead games can make this clear to the contact persons mentioned under ‘information’. Referees are welcome to stay in Purmerend during the tournament.
Rules of the game
The rules of the game are those of the FIBA, with the following adaptations.
Poule games and cross finals. A number of pouls will be formed. The winners of the cross-finals will play the final, its losers will contest the third place. Duration of the games is 2 x 25 or 2x20 minutes running time, with a 2 minutes' rest. Each team may take 1 time-out during one half of the game.
Finals
Duration of the finals is 2 x 15 minutes, with time stops and there is a 5 minutes' rest. Each team is allowed to take 3 time-outs in total and 2 time-outs during one half of the game. Games will be played according to the 24-sec. rule. In case of a draw, there will be a 5 minutes' extension. In case of a second draw, the next goal will be decisive ('sudden death').
Shirts
In case of shirts of equal colours of opponents, the team last mentioned has to use reserve shirts.
Prices
The first prize is the prestigious Challenge-Cup. Of course, there are also second and third prizes, as well as cups for the 'Most Valuable Player', for the winner of the 'DunkContest' and for the winner of the 'ThreePointGame'. The Fair-Play Cup will be won by the most sporting team of the tournament.
Staying overnight
In 2012, there will again be opportunities to stay overnight in Purmerend during the tournament. The Koogmolen sports hall (near the playing sportshalls, 5 minutes to walk) will be used as a sleeping facility. This hall will be guarded permanently. Everyone wanting to stay overnight is asked to bring night-things.
Cost
The enrolment fee is € 85 per team plus the cost for staying overnight amount to € 55 per person for 4 days and € 45 for 3 days. In case of a one or two nights stay, the costs are € 17 per person per night (see entry form). These costs include breakfast and lunch. After confirmation of the teams entry, the enrolment fee, including the relevant costs for staying the nights, have to be transferred. Ways of transferring will be indicated in our notice of confirmation.
